A couple of weeks ago I made Jaia a new skirt –
She’d wanted a circle skirt – But I didn’t have enough fabric in my stash to pull one off, and I always seem to miss judge the waistband on them anyway!
SO – Using this pattern tutorial :
and making some adjustments – I created –
Instead of gathering the skirt, I made one big box pleat in the center front, which I stitched down because I ended up not liking the way it made the skirt big and poof-y.
And many pleats in the back –
I made this!!
I did end up making the waistband too large – again – so I sewed a channel of fabric (2 actually) on either side of the zipper, where I slid a piece of elastic. It worked like a charm! The waist fits wonderfully, the length was great and I LOVE the effect of the pleats on the back.
I have more things planned for the sewing table – but am a major procrastinator:)
But I’ll get to them 🙂
