Labor day fun

Usually on Labor day – Jaia and I head to Kansas City for their big Irish festival and Feis. However – this year we did not go because she recently moved up to PC and does not know the steps to dance them in a competition. That day will come soon enough so we decided not to rush things so she could take her time perfecting those steps.

So we did OTHER things I’ve been wanting to do for YEARS – but just can’t because we are out of town.

We went to the Japanese Festival at the Missouri Botanical Gardens.

We saw traditional Japanese dancing – which one of my husbands friends was participating in  ( check out godzilla there! I think only us “older” people got that – lol!)

We ate sushi, had kombucha,, wandered around enjoying the flowers and also saw the Taiko drummers – my favorite!

Sunday my husband was lovely enough to chauffeur the biggest around so Jaia and I could  drive 2 hours to Hannibal, Missouri to go to the Steampunk Festival!

It’s been on my list of “TO DO” for years! but with going to KC we just couldn’t swing it – this year we could and DID! and I loved every minute of it. Maybe next year we’ll go 2 days since there was so much going on so there was some overlap on things I wanted to see and do.

I’ll try not to inundate you with photos 😉

We saw people in costume and punked out things…..

Tea and parasol dueling  –

music –

They were really good!!!  – I bought their CD – well I made Jaia go up and buy it for me – my back was killing me  – Miss Jubilee and the Humdingers  :

We watched the teapot races –

And Jaia made a mini steampunk hat –

And at the end of the day, we wandered over to the river to see the paddle boats  –

We had a LOT of fun going! It’s getting me motivated to sew steampunk stuff!

Bright Blessings!
